And Nothing Can Stop Us Now!
Wow, so much has been going in our lives lately, I've barely had a moment to rest, let alone blog about it all. everything was on the edge of it's seat. Nothing was essentially decided, or final in any aspect- but now it is and I couldn't be more relieved!
you may remember a few posts ago I had stated that I wasn't sure what gonna come next in my life, work or education? Well I set out looking for work and none came, so that prompted my looking in to furthering my education and I applied to College, hoping for the best.
Tests were needed in order to determine if I was able to study at the college level. I'm sure we've all noticed that despite the odd grammatical and spelling mistake, I'm not too bad at writing. So my language and communication skills weren't gonna be n issue for me; but the math... Now that was another story!
Math is something I could never quite wrap my head around in school. Especially in high school. I remember giving my grade 10 math teacher a near attack one day, as he chased me down the hall.
lol
For some reason, math never stuck in my mind. No matter how hard I tried, or how many times a teacher would explain it to me- it just never made sense. So taking this math portion of the college application was more then just a bit intimidating- I was down right terrified!
I knew something had to be done, in order to help me pass that test. There was stuff on there I had never seen before, much less knew how to do it.
I hired a math tutor. Not just a student who works with you for a few bucks, but a real professional math tutor (that cost $40.00 an hour) and what an amazing difference! She worked with my mind and my way of learning. She let me come up with my own explanations and helped me tailor them the formulas, so that they made sense. There I was, a girl who didn't know how add fractions, doing polynomials and college level math problems. WOW!
Sufficed to say, the money and time I invested was well worth it. I passed both parts of the test with flying colors! And I've been excepted to Humber's LakShore campus for September- YEAH!!!
I've looked for apartments and found the most beautiful, wonderful place I could afford. A top floor, lake view, 2 bedroom apartment, with a pool, park and cove right across the street.
Check out the view I'm gonna have:
OMG!
My little piece of heaven, ahhh.....
I wanna feel at ease, that everything is gonna be perfect and stuff. But I realize the work, has only just begun. We need to down size MAJORLY! Right now I have a 3 story, 3 bedroom town house, and we're moving into a 2 bedroom, one level apartment. I have so much to sort through & get rid of.
To help pay for the expenses of the move, I'm gonna sell just about everything we have and buy new furniture when we get there- with free delivery. Pretty smart huh?
lol
I'll be listing lots of stuff on Kijiji and having a massive garage sale too.
EVERYTHING MUST GO!
The only things I'm gonna take that are big are the bunk beds, 2 or small dressers and the desk. All couches, beds, large dressers and big stuff is gonna be gone. Clothes, pots and pans, and all personal items will of course be coming; but I'd like to be able to move in one truck load if possible.
We've got a great big balcony and a large silled window in the kitchen for my plants and herbs. I'll really miss my garden, I know, but the benefits of the move just can't be beat.
My son 'Sebi' will be able to have hot lunches in the school cafeteria every day "like a high school student" I told him, he loves that. His after school program goes until 6pm if I'm late in classes & his breakfast program starts at 7am, so I can drop him off at his school before I go to mine. It's gonna be great. A great opportunity for all of us, and a learning experience we'll never forget.
Take Care All,
we're moving on up and outta this town
